We, Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, conduct research for the development of versatile microalgal strains using microalgae transformation technique and molecular genetics.
As efforts to produce high-valued bio-chemicals such as bio-diesel and carotenoids,
we are developing high light conversion efficiency, high-speed CO2 capturing microalgae. And identification of low temperature adaptation mechanism of polar microalgae, especially characterization and application of antifreeze proteins are also studying. Omics approach and metabolic engineering of microalgae are employed to develop improved algal strains for the further applications.
